Dear Minister:

I am writing to you on behalf of the Leighton Foundation and Art Centre, a non- profit art gallery and museum located in the foothills directly south of the city of Calgary.  Recently, staff at the Leighton Art Centre completed a project to digitize and catalogue the Leighton Foundation’s permanent collection of artifacts.  This was made possible through an Institutional Grant from the Alberta Museums Association. This project greatly enhances the ability of the Leighton Art Centre to access and interpret items in its permanent collection for the ongoing benefit of the public it is mandated to serve. It also ensures a higher standard of collections management and preservation, as the digitized catalogue improves access to the multitude of historically and artistically valuable items in our collection without requiring researchers to physically handle them. 

The Leighton Art Centre is very grateful for the financial assistance provided for this project by the government of Alberta and the Alberta Museums Association. Moving forward, the catalogue will enable the public to engage more richly with the historical significance of the Leighton Centre, ensuring its story continues to resonate with Albertans for generations to come.
